A wide variety of productions, from music videos to reality shows to scripted dramatic series such as 24, use more than one camera to simultaneously record the same material from multiple angles. Multicamera, or multicam, editing allows editors in a post-production environment to employ the same kind of on-the-fly cutting technique that switchers in a television studio use to cut live from one camera angle to another.
