Summary

In this chapter, we saw how we can create a schema from scratch and how Solr provides us with different functionalities. We can add these to our schema to help us achieve better search results.

We also created a schema for storing a music catalog and performed custom queries on it. These showed us a real-life example of how we can index data and get information back from Solr.

In the next chapter, we'll see how we can use the different index handlers provided by Solr to import our existing data.
