Introduction

Chapter 11 introduced the “Your Momma Loves Drama” (YMLD) system and discussed how the applications can be developed using Java and JDBC. This chapter demonstrates how this application can be written using one of the data access APIs found in the Windows environment. Numerous APIs can be used to access the Apache Derby database, including ODBC, CLI, RDO, ADO, and .NET. Each of these APIs can access the Apache Derby database as long as the database is started as a network server and the DB2 client is used on the workstation.
