Troubleshooting an Installation
If you've read through the steps in this chapter, Apache Derby and IBM Cloudscape installations will be a snap. For an easily installable product, we may have overdone the details in this chapter, but we wanted to ensure that you know the “ins” and “outs” of installing this software.
Nine times out of ten, an installation problem has to do with that pesky CLASSPATH environment variable. That's why we recommend that you use the script files provided by IBM Cloudscape to set this variable for either a graphical or manual installation (and, of course, it uses the CLOUDSCAPE_INSTALL system variable too . . . so set it).
