Using the Server Framework for Apache Derby Applications

The Apache Derby Network Server (derbynet.jar) provides a server framework for Apache Derby databases (derby.jar). It uses the DB2 UDB Java Common Client JDBC driver (db2cc.jar). You can read about the differences between this driver and the embedded JDBC driver discussed in the previous section in the product documentation. Of course, the JCC is just one of the many options available, including the new Apache Derby Network Client (see http://incubator.apache.org/derby/faq.html#netclient) and C-JDBC by ObjectWeb (see http://c-jdbc.objectweb.org/).
