The Laws, Rules, and Guidelines Used to Fight the Good Fight

We all enter the fight against money laundering so that we can deter, detect, and protect our financial system from the bad guys who would abuse and continue to perpetrate the predicate crimes that enable their illegal funds to develop. In other words, the bad guys are enabled to continue committing crimes because it is profitable. Part of the reason for profitability is the ability to launder the ill-gotten gains. So, we come full circle. The bad guy commits a crime, launders the proceeds, and then has the funding to commit more crimes. The drug cartel now has more money to push more drugs, buy more bullets, kill more people…and the cycle continues.
