Summary
Ant is open source, and to that end, it requires a community to maintain interest and keep it progressing. The Ant community is very much alive and the next big step, Ant 2, will bring an improved version of a great tool. The compromise of backward incompatibility must be faced, but it is for the benefit of a more mature Ant. Ant is still very young in comparison to make, for example, but with the help of the user community and an excellent team of developers, Ant will evolve with bugs fixed and improvements made. As part of that community, you can make a difference.
