Chapter 5. Optional Tasks

Just as you are probably beginning to get a good feel for how powerful this Ant framework is, allow us to introduce you to a whole new suite of tasks commonly referred to as optional tasks. So called because, although they are not fundamental to the actual build logic of a system, they do compliment the overall management by providing useful utilities such as accessing a Telnet server or uploading a file to an FTP site. This chapter will take an exploratory look at some of the more common optional tasks that are available to you.
