Auto IK

If you find that targetless IK works well for you, there is another option that takes targetless IK even further. Figure 9.22 shows the Auto IK option on the Armature panel in the Edit buttons. Enabling Auto IK for an armature causes any bone that you select and translate to act as though it has a targetless IK constraint attached to it. Any bone that you grab functions with pose-only IK. This means that you can manipulate all of your controls with the intuitive posing ability of IK without having to prethink where you would like to place your targetless IK constraints.
