Moving a Shot File and Maintaining Its Links

If you want to move a shot file to another part of the overall directory structure of your project, use the File > External Data menu to select Make All Paths Absolute. Then save the file and quit Blender. It’s true that so far all we have talked about is how splendid relative paths are for your project, and now we’re saying to change all paths in your shot file to absolute ones. Don’t worry. They’ll only be that way for a moment.

Move the shot file where you wish, restart Blender and open the file. Because you used absolute disk paths, Blender still knows exactly where to look to find the links, keeping them alive. Now, use the other path command from the menu: Make All Paths Relative, which will ...
