Intended Audiences
There are several audiences for this book. Most commonly, it will be used in upper-level elective college courses and industry professional courses for people familiar with object-oriented programming but who may or may not know Java and want to learn Android app development.
Uniquely, the book can also be used in introductory courses like CS1, intended for programming novices. We recommend that schools typically offering many sections of CS1 in Java consider designating one or two sections for ambitious students who have at least some prior programming experience and who want to work hard to learn a good amount of Java and Android in an aggressively paced one-semester course.
