Swype Typing

Some tablets, such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab, ship with the Swype app pre-installed. Swype is also available as a separate app download for some tablet and phone users (the version shown on the right); and by the time this book is published, it's likely to be available for tablets running Honeycomb.

When using Swype, you don't peck each letter out one at a time; instead, you slide your fingers along the virtual keys. For instance, the word “wish” would be typed this way:

  1. Press down on the first letter of the word, the w key.
  2. Keep your finger pressed down and slide between the i, s, and h keys.
  3. Pick your finger up at the end of the word, or the h key.
