Introducing the Android Market

Some early tablets didn’t support the Android Market because of restrictions imposed by Google. Other tablets don’t support the Android Market because they use modified versions of Android, and the device makers have chosen either to disallow apps or to use an alternative app market. However, the Android Market is the default app store for most Android tablets.

The Android Market takes a laissez-faire approach to app approval. Apple’s App Store sets high standards and scrutinizes each app before allowing people to download it. The Android Market, by contrast, generally only yanks apps that are malicious or dishonest. It’s up to you, the user, to determine whether an app will be worth your while.
