SQLite in Android

The Android software stack consists of core Linux kernel, Android runtime, Android libraries that support the Android framework, and finally Android applications that run on top of everything. The Android runtime uses Dalvik virtual machine (DVM) to execute the dex code. In newer versions of Android, that is, from KitKat (4.4), Android has enabled an experimental feature known as ART, which will eventually replace DVM.
