24. Contextual Memories

About two years ago, my wife, Lisa, and I were planning a holiday, looking around the Web at various holiday villas. As most people do, we bookmarked our favorites so we could come back to them at a later date. Yet when we wanted to go back to a specific villa—maybe the one with the 30-foot pool and the barbecue area—we were presented with a list of bookmarks that all said pretty much the same thing: “Villa in the South of France.” There was no way of knowing which one of these many bookmarks was which without trawling through them all again.

Surely there’s a better way to bookmark something by adding a bit of contextual ...
