Introduction

Modern high speed analog-to-digital converters (ADC), including those with pipeline or successive approximation register (SAR) topologies, have fast switched-capacitor sampling inputs. The highest performance parts maintain low input noise and low signal distortion (high linearity) while consuming less power with each new generation. At the same time, they are sampling at ever increasing rates, which enables wider signal bandwidths and relaxes the requirements for analog antialias filtering.
