In this chapter we discuss the advances in physical sciences and life sciences from the eighteenth century onwards and try to discern the direction in which we are moving. The search for the way the life forms originated, evolved, and function is leading to some exciting conclusions. The advances in Information Technology, Biotechnology and Nanotechnology lead us to exciting possibilities as well as some anxieties also. We are closer than ever to finding out the basic structure of matter as well as the basic processes of life.
