Measurement is engineering. Engineering is the foundation of video, television, film and the cinema: in fact, everything to do with moving pictures. But many who work in the industry are not engineers. Many get caught up in a technology for which they are ill-equipped to deal. So where do these people begin? The intention of this small book—miniscule compared to the magnitude of the subject—set out to explore the system step by step, from bulb and battery, through early messaging, to first pictures, and on to where we are today.
