8. We Are All Rudy

I worry that some think they are “special” before they turn pro. As if the day they walk onto a trading floor, they are on second base, far ahead of other new traders. Perhaps they have a high IQ, hold an 800 math SAT score, were a champion athlete, or possess the latest trending “special” characteristic, now poker player. If they do view themselves as special, this makes their trading journey more difficult. Worse yet, if we believe in this rubbish that the special have an easier path, this idea discourages those without these characteristics to mistakenly believe they have a lesser chance.
