About the Authors
Jay W. Lorsch is the Louis E. Kirstein Professor of Human Relations at the Harvard Business School. He is the Cofounder and Chair of the School’s Executive Education program, Leading Professional Service Firms, which is the only university-based program focusing on the leadership and management of such firms. His interest in professional service firms began in 1987 when he coauthored the Harvard Business Review article “When Professionals Have to Manage.” His interest also grew as a result of his leadership positions at HBS where he was a Senior Associate Dean from 1986 to 1995, responsible first for the faculty’s research activities and later for its Executive Education programs.
