INTRODUCTION
As mentioned in Chap. 6, a rather wide variety of welding processes have been developed for joining various types of metals for aircraft. Oxy-fuel welding is still practiced extensively for the manufacture and repair of steel aircraft structures; however, inert-gas welding (Heliarc or TIG and MIG) is more commonly used for the welding of aluminum, stainless steels, titanium, and magnesium alloys.
