Chapter 9. Asset Portfolio Management

The asset portfolio is the last of the three portfolios we’ll discuss that are important for a successful portfolio management strategy. This portfolio is also known as an application portfolio. Systems, applications, and related hardware investments are captured in this type of portfolio. Although assets are more static than projects, portfolio managers still need to monitor the operational aspects of an organization to harvest ideas for new projects and allocate potential resources. That process will, in turn, influence project and resource portfolio management and bring us full circle back to the previously introduced portfolios.
