Terms coined or specially adapted for the present work are marked with an asterisk.

85 percent rule. A possibly apocryphal notion that 85 percent of performance deficiencies are due to environmental factors. Only 15 percent are related to the individual factors, including knowledge and skills.

acceptance criteria. A description of what the customer (q.v.) expects the output to do when a work item is complete.

actualized.* A state of a team that has realized its potential for high performance through the frequent delivery of worthy output.
