Chapter 7. Alignment

We have been making the case for autonomous teams, and it is natural to worry that this will erode alignment with IT and business strategy. In this short chapter, we see ways to retain alignment. We also look at how to improve cooperation between IT and business. This topic ties back indirectly to the theme of designing for autonomy laid out in Chapter 3. Ensuring alignment lets us design for autonomy without worrying about runaway autonomy, which is a common cause of silos.
