In these exercises we’ve generated lots and lots of ideas. Now we have to distill them down to a few choice ones that we can progress to the next level. This is where we apply convergent thinking. Where divergent thinking was about throwing the net wide, convergent thinking is about narrowing ideas down to a select few.

How you do this will depend on the kinds of exercises you ran, but one of the quickest and easiest ways to narrow down thinking is to get the participants to vote on the best ideas. If you have a large number of ideas, give participants three sticky notes and ask them to put them on their preferred ideas.
