With the scene set and a project in the making, the following chapters plot a path from taking a nascent idea into a product and beyond. Whilst these chapters are linear and sequential, that doesn’t mean that in practice you need to do these things in this order. Think of the next three chapters—discovery, envisioning, and elaboration—as a buffet from which you can pick and choose elements that will help clarify your vision, reduce the uncertainty and risk of building the wrong things, and focus on building delightful products that engage your customers. To that end, we’ll commence with discovery.
