Chapter 18. Co-Located Team

Teams that follows the Co-Located Team practice work in the same physical space. Their workspace is usually an open area that enables and encourages communication. The informal communication that happens between members of such a team enhances the team’s ability to work together effectively.

Business Value

A co-located team is able to recognize and collectively respond to new information effectively, which affects its flexibility. At the same time, this team spends much less time in cycles trying to understand each other correctly. Being co-located gives the team the most channels and the highest possible bandwidth of communication, so it gets things done faster.
