This volume of Advances in Computers is the 99th in this series. This series, which has been continuously published since 1960, presents in each volume four to seven chapters describing new developments in software, hardware, or uses of computers.

This 99th volume is the first in a mini-series of volumes based on the theme “Advances in Software Testing.” The need for such a thematic mini-series came up when I was teaching my graduate class “Fundamentals of Software Testing,” in which students were asked to study and report on recent (years 2010–2015) advances in various topics surrounding software testing.
