Comparing Reuse Strategies in Different Development Environments

Abstract

There is a debate in the aerospace industry whether lessons from reuse successes and failures in nonembedded software can be applied to embedded software. This chapter analyzes and compares reuse success and failures in embedded versus nonembedded systems. A survey of the literature identifies empirical studies of reuse that can be used to compare reuse outcomes in embedded versus nonembedded systems.
