4. Syngas Upgrading

Syngas can be co-fired in existing coal power plants, burned in the combined heat and power (CHP) plants or used as carbon and electron source in microbial fuel cell (MFC) to generate power. Syngas may also be used to produce Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG), which primarily consists of methane and water vapour. Besides that, syngas is an important intermediate resource or starting material for the production of hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, ethanol, higher alcohols and acetate. Syngas is also used as an intermediate in producing synthetic gasoline and diesel via Fischer–Tropsch synthesis (FTS).
