Using the Trust Center

I love the name Trust Center. It sounds so imposing, as if you have a personal security system (or, perhaps, a tiny but powerful Doberman Pinscher) stored directly in the 2007 Office release programs, ready to protect your documents at any cost.

The fact is, though there are a few new options, the Trust Center is really just a reorganization of security settings, bringing together related options you already know from earlier versions. Essentially, you can find the following types of settings in the Trust Center.

  • Preferences for trusted file locations (includes default file locations, such as User Templates)

  • Permissions and related behavior for non-native functionality, such as macros and ActiveX controls
