Objects vs. Pictures
The term objects as used here refers to objects created directly in your document as well as to those embedded as objects from other programs. The benefits of using pictures instead of objects has already been introduced in the preceding section. However, understanding the difference between pictures and objects is an important part of being able to effectively manage the graphics in your documents.
The difference between an object and a picture is similar to the difference between your computer and a picture of your computer. A picture is an image of an object. Just as you can’t type or search the Internet using a picture of a computer, you can’t edit data in a picture of a chart—the picture has no data.
