One of the most popular and consistently client-pleasing uses of DHTML is the popup menu. Your users are accustomed to operating systems where clicking on main menu items releases any number of submenus. Web sites that can mimic this behavior well are usually appreciated by users, and clients just love them. There are a number of popup menu scripts you can download, and even Dreamweaver produces some solid popup menu code. However, the most popular free popup menu code available is HierMenus by Peter Belesis. It's robust, flexible, and works well with both text and images.
