I used to work at a Web design firm called Clear Ink, and one of our clients was Pacific Bell. We built an extranet for one for their departments to organize all of their marketing activities. It had a simple, friendly look that they were pleased with, but the thing that really got them excited was the report-making tool. Visually, this was the least interesting part of the site, but man, they drooled over it.[1] We've used this technique for other clients, and they've all been happy with it.
