Multiple net Statements

Sometimes, you will see a Cisco router configured with multiple net statements under router IS-IS. This is a useful technique for merging two domains or transitioning from one addressing scheme to another, but it's not generally recommended.

When you configure two net statements, the router simply combines, or merges, the databases into one database. This means that routing occurring between what may normally be considered domains ends up appearing as simple L2 routing.
