Figure 5-14 presents a situation you might come across from time to time, where Router C and Router D are ABRs, while Router A and Router B are in area 0, and Router E and Router F are in area 1.

What do you do with the WAN link in the middle? Should it be in area 0, or area 1? Begin by putting the WAN link in area 0—it is a direct link between two core routers, so it's probably supposed to be in the network core.
