Lighting Techniques

This section discusses various ways of improving and refining the lighted appearance of objects. There are several approaches to approving the fidelity of lighting. The process of computing lighting can be decomposed into separate subtasks. One is capturing the material properties of an object, reflectances, roughness, transparency, subsurface properties, and so on. A second is the direct illumination model; the manner in which the surface interacts with the light striking the target object.
