Part IV. The New Frontier

RIM continues to evolve the BlackBerry platform. As its hardware grows more powerful, its competition more fierce, and its customers more demanding, RIM has focused on releasing new versions of its device software that unlock new capabilities for developers. This final part of the book will look at the latest set of APIs and services that RIM has released. We will leverage the push API, which takes a device capability that has been around since the beginning, and finally makes it available to the masses. We will look at the latest UI features for making modern, attractive screens. We'll round out the book by examining a variety of useful and interesting cross-platform libraries, such as barcode scanning and OpenGL.
