The Burn Tool

The Burn tool is designed for darkening areas of an image. Like the Dodge tool, it has Range options in its palette for Highlights, Midtones, and Shadows, as well as an Exposure setting. It, too, works great with grayscale images. If you are ever dealing with a shiny spot on someone's forehead or nose because the light is reflecting off it, you can go ahead and try to fix it with the Burn tool (compare Figures 16.83 and 16.84).
