”Underlying” Sliders

By moving the two sliders on the Underlying bar, you'll be able to make areas of the underlying image show up as if they were creating a hole in the layer you Option (Mac) or Alt (Windows) double-clicked. These sliders are useful when you don't want a layer to completely obstruct the view of the underlying image. I might use this to reveal some of the texture in the underlying image. And, just like the top sliders, you can Option-click (Mac) or Alt-click (Windows) to separate the sliders into two parts (Figures 15.21 to 15.23).
