Getting started

You'll be working in one art file during this lesson, but before you begin you'll restore the default preferences for Adobe Illustrator. Then you'll open the finished art file for this lesson to see what you'll create.

To ensure that the tools and palettes function exactly as described in this lesson, delete or deactivate (by renaming) the Adobe Illustrator 10.0 preferences file. See “Restoring default preferences” on page 4.

Double-click the Adobe Illustrator icon to start the Adobe Illustrator program. When you start Adobe Illustrator, the menu bar, the toolbox, and five palette groups appear on the screen.
