Creating and using symbols

A symbol is an art object that you store in the Symbols palette and reuse one or more times in a document. You can create symbols from any Illustrator art object, including paths, compound paths, text, raster images, gradient meshes, and groups of objects. Symbols can also include active objects, such as brush strokes, blends, effects, or other symbol instances.

In this section, you will store one of the grapes as a symbol and then create a cluster of grapes. You will also change the color, size, and placement of the grapes with the symbolism tools.

Using the selection tool, select the grape that is on top of the leaves.
