Chapter 8. Planning Design

When working with moderate- to large-sized projects that have multiple designers on a team who need to work together, it is increasingly important to get everyone on the “same page” so everyone’s designs integrate well together.

Before you open Photoshop and start building your comp, you need to plan, starting at a very high level and later working your way down to the specifics. Defining specifics early on can add risk when broader concepts haven’t been vetted or reviewed with your client or customer.

One approach to narrowing your design focus is to start with a broad-stroke discussion of the idea and capture the communication and collaboration at each step.
