^#48 Creating Template Pages

The central concept in creating and using template pages is that they include editable and noneditable regions. Noneditable template page regions are parts of the page that are defined in the template; they can only be edited in the template file. Once they are edited, they apply to all pages with which the template is associated.

Let’s explore a typical template page. The page might have a banner across the top, a navigation bar on the left, and a copyright/navigation bar at the bottom. The template defines these elements. A region in the middle of the page could function as an editable region and would have different content on every page on the site (Figure 48a).
