In Chapter 23, “Securing Your Applications,” online, session variables are used to track the logged-in status of users.
In Chapter 21, “Interacting with Email,” online, session variables are used to help users check their email messages from a ColdFusion template.
The Ad Server examples in Chapter 38, “Generating Non-HTML Content,” in Vol. 2, Application Development, use session variables to track which ads have been shown on which pages on a per-visit basis.
