PDF portfolios were introduced in Acrobat 9 as a way of bundling a collection of individual files of any type into a single, PDF-compatible package. Portfolios have been refined in Acrobat X; they have new features and are easier to create.

Files within a portfolio can be any of a wide variety of types, including Microsoft Word documents, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, Apple QuickTime movies, JPEG images, Adobe Flash animations, and PDF documents.
