Chapter 24. Installing and Configuring IIS

One of the newest features in Windows Server 2008, including Server Core, is Internet Information Server (IIS) 7. If Server Core had a Graphical User Interface (GUI), you'd quickly see that a lot has changed for IIS. In fact, you'd be pretty amazed at the changes, including extensive built-in support for the .NET Framework. However, given that Server Core doesn't support a GUI or the .NET Framework, what you'll mainly notice is a lack of functionality. You can support static content and scripted pages using Server Core, but you can't provide the significant dynamic content provided by ASP.NET (at least, not without help—Appendix A contains one suggestion for fixing this oversight).
