Upgrading then Restructuring

The third migration path to examine is the upgrade-then-restructure path, or the intraforest migration. Recall from earlier in this chapter that the upgrade-then-restructure approach first involves an upgrade of the down-level domain controllers to Windows Server 2003 (which preserves the original domain hierarchy), followed by a domain restructuring where directory services objects are migrated from the upgraded source domains to the target domain (or domains).
