Chapter 19. Working with Sound

The Sound class provides us with programmatic control over sounds embedded or loaded into Flash applications. Other classes, such as SoundTransform and SoundChannel, also assist the Sound class in controlling and setting the properties of sounds.

Flash allows developers to embed a sound on the timeline, but you have limited options for controlling sound when you’re working with the timeline. Instantiating and controlling a sound using ActionScript, on the other hand, gives you full control over the playback, volume, and channels (left and right speakers).
