An open set is one in which each individual member brings his or her own project, task, or problem to the table. Each person is a client for the other group members. The set members support and assist each other for an agreed-upon period of time. Usually all the set members are from different organizations, although the group may be comprised of people from different units of the same organization.

The process in an open set works as follows:

Step 1

Four to eight people meet on a periodic basis to work and learn together. Set members act as a resource to one another. They support and challenge each other as they tackle their allotted project and focus on learning.
